CCL organizes Hindi Diwas and Prize Distribution Ceremony

A mega prize distribution ceremony among executives and non-executives of Central Coalfields Ltd was organized to mark the "Hindi Diwas" at VicharManch, CCL Hqrs, Ranchi today. Different types of competitions like essay writing, note & drafting writing,computer typing etc were organized in 'devnagari' script of Rajbhasha in different categories at CCL headquarters as well as areas since the first week of September, 2018. Altogether 103 personnel of the company were awarded on Hindi Diwas.

Chairman-cum-Managing Director, CCL Shri Gopal Singh was present as Chief Guest, while Head of the Department of Hindi, Ranchi University Shri Hari Nandan Prasad was presence as Guest of Honour. Besides, Director(Pers), CCL Shri R S Mahapatro, General Managers/HODs from headquarters and largenumber of employees were present during the function.

Message of Hon’ble Coal and Rail Minister Shri Piyush Goel regarding Rajbhasha was read by Shri R S Mahapatro, while message of Chairman, CIL Shri A K Jha was read by GM(Welfare) MsRashmiDayal.


Chief Guest & CMD CCL Shri Gopal Singh said that Hindi Diwas is being celebrated across the country today as it was on this day in 1949 that the Constituent Assembly adopted Hindi written in Devanagari as the official language of the country. In his address, he talked about the reach of Hindi across the length and breath of the country, saying this language is understood by more than 77 % of Indians. He urged the young generation not to restrain themselves by learning only Hindi language but learn as much as other languages to compete with the world. He further said that Google is forced to introduce Google Apps in Hindi due to rise in Hindi speakers.

Guest of Honour Shri HariNandan Prasad talked about the simplicity of the Rajbhasha saying that it may be learned with small efforts unlike other language. He further talked about the global reach of Hindi as it has now been accepted by the whole world and about 150 foreign universities are teaching Hindi as a subject and many fundamental books of knowledge and science are being written in Hindi. Shri Prasad believed that with the expansion of Hindi in Engineering, Medica, information technologyetc, the young generation will get better opportunities in coming days.

While addressing the gathering, Shri R S Mahapatro informed that more than 90 % departmental works are being performed in Hindi within the company. He said that non-Hindi speakers too can learn Hindi with sustained efforts and performed their work in Hindi.

GM(NEE/Rajbhasha) Smt Vinita Sharan delivered a welcome address, while vote of thanks was proposed by Shri Balram Singh, Assistant Manager(Rajbhasha). Shri Devik Divesh, Shri Rajesh Kumar and others played key role in organizing the programme.
