Enthusiastic Celebrations mark 'May Day' at Central Coalfields. 'Script of development of any nation is written by labour' - Honourable Minister

On the occasion of the 'Labor Day', Central Coalfields organized "Shram Samman Samaroh" at Harivansh Rai Tana Bhagat Indoor Stadium, Hotwar, Khelgaon, Ranchi to commemorate the Labour Day and acknowledge the invaluable contribution of its employees in yet another year marked by new records, new benchmarks and new heights on various parameters. Union Minister of State, Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises Ministry, GoI, Hon'ble Shri Babul Supriyo graced the occasion as Chief Guest. Hon’ble MP (Lok Sabha) Shri Ram Tahal Chaudhary, Hon’ble MP (Rajya Sabha) Shri Mahesh Poddar, Hon’ble MLA (Kanke) Dr. Jitu Charan Ram were the special guest of the Award Ceremony. Also present on the occasion were Director (Personnel) Shri R S Mahapatro, Director (Finance) Shri D K Ghosh, Chief Vigilance Officer Shri A K Srivastava, members of the JCSC Apex Board, Welfare Board, JCSC and Trade Union representatives, along with other dignitaries.

Addressing the award ceremony, Chief Guest, Hon'ble Shri Babul Supriyo said that capital without labor is worthless. Labour in any form is highly regarded and script of development of any nation is written by a labour. Shri Supriyo said that it’s your labour which has paved the path of country’s prosperity and I must salute it. It is our duty to recognize the significant role of workers. Hon'ble Minister said that in last few years (2012-2018), CCL has registered many outstanding and unprecedented successes on different parameters, displaying excellence in its performance with each passing year, which is an example for other public sector enterprises. Lauding the leadership of CMD Shri Gopal Singh Shri Supriyo said that any organization needs a vision for its success and Shri Singh has given that vision to CCL. He said that under efficient leadership of our Hon’ble Prime Minister, the country is having a dream run on the path of progress and country need more energy to continue this momentum. It is a matter of pride for all of us that under the guidance of Hon'ble Coal Minister Shri Piyush Goyal, all coal mining companies have been ensuring uninterrupted coal supply and CCL contributing significantly in this growth story. He congratulated CCL for touching new heights of success in financial year 2017-18. CCL has recorded the coal dispatch (67.5 million tonnes) highest in its history so far.

In his welcome speech, CMD, CCL Shri Gopal Singh extended warm welcome to Hon’ble Minister of State for Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises, Shri Babul Supriyo, Special Guests, representatives of trade unions and other dignitaries present in a packed auditorium. He further said that May Day is the historic day as it reflects self-esteem (Swabhimaan) of a worker across the globe. “The significance and contribution of workers may be understood with this fact that workforce play a key role in development of any nation. Only those developed or developing countries have progressed which has acknowledged the contribution of labour and extended respect to them,” Shri Singh said.

The company has witnessed unprecedented growth in recent past, thanks to labour of each and every employee. “Earlier the production of coal was confined to 50 MT but now we could produce 70 MT with ease. The reason behind this achievement is committed workforce of the company”, He added. Shri Singh asserted that labour is a symbol of our self-belief and we need to move forward creating many more milestones.

CMD extended his gratitude towards Hon’ble Union Minister of Coal and Railways Shri Piyush Goyal for inspirational leadership that has helped the coal industries including CCL to create of many milestones. He also elaborated on various welfare schemes launched for the welfare of the workers in the company.

Earlier in his address, Shri Ram Tahal Chaudhary said that labour is invaluable and beyond any description. He said that we all need to diligently perform our duties and contribute in the development of the nation under in the leadership of Hon'ble Prime Minister. Shri Chaudhary appreciated the social transformation and holistic development brought in by CCL through its “Kayakalp Schemes”.

Extending his best wishes on the occasion, Hon'ble MP (Rajya Sabha) Shri Mahesh Poddar said human labour is unparrallel and technology can never replace it. He appreciated efforts of Hon’ble Railways and Coal Minister Shri Piyush Goyal in bringing the power stations from the dreaded scarcity of coal and also helped economy by cutting its coal import significantly.

Prior to this, lightening of ceremonial lamp took place by the Chief Guest in presence of all the present dignitaries. On this occasion, the Chief Guest awarded about 75 officers and employees from all 12 areas of CCL including headquarters for their outstanding contributions in their respective fields.

A packed auditorium enjoyed a musical concert, performed by Chhandam Group, Kolkata. The Hon’ble Minister Shri Babul Supriyo himself sang songs which was welcomed by huge applause from the audience specially children.
