Human Resource Development department in Central Coalfields Limited plays a major role in fulfilling the mission of the company and meeting the goal of the company. It works towards enriching the knowledge and skill of employees. Emphasis is on improving the quality of life. Wellness and welfare of employees are the topmost priority. We strive for holistic improvement. With Yoga, Meditation and work-life balance tips employees are trained to deal with mundane stress and taught to be happy. To meet the increasing demand for coal, new technologies, equipment is regularly brought in use. Each new technology demands a new ecosystem. Each new equipment demands a new set of skills. Sometimes new legislation is implemented. HRD role is to foresee future needs and keep itself ready. It analyses the core strength of each employee vis-a-vis the need of the company. Based on the assessment of need, necessary training to enhance knowledge and skill is imparted. Emergency response classes to deal with day to day emergencies are organized. Classes on better post-retirement life with the spouse are organized. Our experience says whatever be the preparedness, there are always surprises. HRD keeps itself ready for exigencies too. Our mantra - "Work hard and be happy."

MISSION, POLICY & OBJECTIVE OF HRD DEPARTMENT

MISSION

► Making the workforce happy and stress free with a desire to learn and think creatively, able to manage and solve work problems with right capability acquired through training programs for the purpose of fulfilling mission and achieving goal.

VISION

► Human Resource Development Department, Ranchi is committed for training and development of employees and stakeholders of Central Coalfields Limited through need-based training program based on the requirement of the organization.

OBJECTIVE

► The growing demand of right quality coal in sufficient quantity, the rising concern over environmental pollution and natural flora and fauna degradation and depletion of low depth conventional energy sources has made the task more challenging. The technical and managerial knowledge acquired from the academic institutions need to be supplemented with the applied technical and managerial skills. These skills are to be regularly updated for employees of CCL to cope with the ever progressing and constantly advancing technologies and legislations being introduced in the industry. To cope up with the task of emerging from strategic plan, Annual HRD plan of CCL is worked out every year to integrate efforts of HRD at the Management Training Institute at Ranchi; in all the 11 GVTCs of areas; BTTI Bhurkunda; CETI Barkakana and Security Training Institute at Ranchi, in following segments: -

1. KNOWLEDGE ENHANCEMENT PROGRAMS

These programs intend to redefine business approach, enable strategic thinking and expand the creative vision of the employees for better performance in the organization. In order to serve the very purpose following programs are conducting regularly at Management Training Centre, HRD, Ranchi. Some of the programs conducted under these segments are as follows:-

2. SKILL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS

These Programs intends to serve the initiative of the Government of India, which has been launched, to empower the youth of the country with skill sets, which make them more employable and more productive in their work environment. It provides for an industry led, practice oriented, effective and efficient mode of formal training. This component cover various Schemes:-

Moreover CCL HRD also conducts External Training Program at IICM, Centre of Excellences, and other prominent private Training Organization Institutes.

B. Apprenticeship Training Schemes in CCL:-

VISION

► To create skilled technical manpower for by utilizing the available training facilities by imparting quality training to the apprentices.

MISSION

► To deliver quality training to the apprentices and help them to realize their potential and achieve their life long aspirations by providing them high quality 'on the job' training.

Objectives of the Apprenticeship Training

► To facilitate fresh Graduates and Diploma Holders in Engineering/ Technology/ Architecture/Pharmacy/ Hotel Management & Catering Technology, and (10+2) level Vocational course Pass outs to acquire 'on the job' training in Industries/ Establishments and thus to make them more employable.

a.    National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme(NAPS) is to promote apprenticeship training in CCL as per Apprenticeship Act 1961 amended in 2014 and Apprenticeship Act 1992 amended in 2017 for ITI pass out/ NTC/STC certificate holder, National/State skill certificate holder and Freshers.

b.    National Apprenticeship Training Scheme(NATS) is to promote apprenticeship training in CCL as per Apprenticeship Act 1961 amended in 2014 and Apprenticeship Act 1992 amended in 2017 for Diploma and Graduate pass out. C. Vocational Training/ Internship: -

Central Coalfields Ltd provides Vocational Training/ Internship to students in order to enhance individuals' employability (wage/ self-Employment) and inculcate the ability to adapt to changing Technologies and labour market demands. We also strive towards improving productivity of the younger strata of the nation thereby strengthening competitiveness of the country, attracting investment in skill development.

Objective

To Create Opportunities for all to acquire Skills throughout life, and Especially for Youth, women and Disadvantaged Groups, Promote Commitment by all stakeholders to own Skill Development Initiatives, Develop a High-Quality skilled workforce/entrepreneur relevant to current and emerging employment market needs, Enable the Establishment of flexible delivery mechanisms that respond to the characteristics of a wide range of needs of stakeholders.

3. E-PATHSHALA

E-Pathshala is a new initiative taken up by CCL, which comprises of a collection of video lectures and presentations on various technical and managerial topics from the experts of the Industry as well as the external specialists in their respective field. This will enable the employees as well as external stakeholders to benefit from the deliverables of the internal as well as external resource persons.
