The Coal India Marathon is an annual event organized by Central Coalfields Limited (CCL) on behalf of Coal India Limited in Ranchi, aiming to promote health, fitness, and community engagement. It is the only registered Marathon with the Athletics Federation of India being organized in Jharkhand. Its primary objective is to encourage a healthy lifestyle among employees, their families, and the broader community. The marathon also serves as a platform to raise awareness about environmental sustainability and the importance of responsible coal mining practices.
