CCL continues its unrelenting fight against the Covid-19 Pandemic

Corona pandemic has engulfed the entire world and in this situation of unprecedented crisis, Central Coalfields Limited(CCL), a subsidiary of Coal India has continued its endeavor to help needy during the ongoing lockdown with great zeal and enthusiasm by distributing dry food material along with other necessary items.

Jharkhand Govt. has declared a blanket lockdown across the state till May 17. CCL under the guidance of CMD CCL Shri Gopal Singh has been consistently providing relief to those struggling most to survive in this ongoing pandemic in its command areas comprising eight districts of Jharkhand including Ranchi.

Under its CSR initiatives, company has distributed over 30,000 masks among the villagers and people in its command areas by the end of second lockdown. In an exceptional initiative, the company brought 4000 masks from the beneficiaries of Stitching training imparted under its CSR program during 1st and 2nd lockdown. Company provided the material for stitching of the mask and was procured at Rs 15 each. Food grain packets are being distributed by the company to the destitute people of its operational area. They have distributed around 19000 dry food grain packets to the beneficiaries so far. The cooked food packets too have been distributed. The company is running community kitchens to further intensify its effort to meet the needs of the masses. The rules related to social distancing are being observed to in these kitchens. More than 6500 persons have been catered through these community kitchens. Understanding the seriousness of hygiene, company has distributed over 2500 bottles of Sanitizers (100ml) to the people and has carried sanitization drive in twenty-five panchayats.

The company is working in coordination with the district administration and it is supplying relief materials like food grain packets, masks and sanitizers to the administration for its distribution amongst the needy. It has provided about 350 quintal of food grains to the district administration for distribution among the beneficiaries.

CMD, Shri Gopal Singh said that these are challenging days for the country and their priority is to help the needy section of the society which will help mitigate the disastrous impact of this pandemic. He stressed on the fact that despite these challenging circumstances the employees of the company are working at their utmost capacity to ensure that there is no shortage of coal supply. Shri Singh reiterated that the workforce of CCL will continue to work with utmost dedication to ensure that the help and support is available to the people and nobody has to sleep hungry because of lack of resources.
