CCL celebrates World Environment Day 2017

On the occasion of World Environment Day, programmes were organized at Central Coalfields Ltd, Darbhaga House (Ranchi), Central Hospital Gandhinagar and all command areas all areas. The program started with Corporate Song of Coal India.

Shri Gopal Singh, CMD, CCL administered oath to employees of the company and hoisted environment flag in presence of huge gathering at CCL Hqrs. On this occasion CCL's Director (Finance) Shri D K Ghosh, Director (Personnel) Shri R S Mahapatro, Director (Technical/ Operations) Shri Subir Chandra, Director (P&P) Shri A K Mishra along with, GMs, departmental heads from headquarters and employees were present during the oath ceremony. 

On the occasion, message of Shri S. Bhattacharya, Chairman of Coal India Ltd was read out. 

Speaking on the occasion, CMD CCL, Shri Gopal Singh said that it is responsibility of one and all to contribute towards environmental protection. Shri Singh said that nature of our work i.e. mining activities affects the local environment, therefore it of utmost importance for us to minimise the damage through scientific mining and ensure the restoration of the abandoned mines through plantation and other measures. CCL has tried to meet the need of current generation without compromising on the needs of future generation and will continue doing it. 

We need to change our mindset and continue to make efforts towards environment protection, he added. In this direction he declared that CCL will plant 3 lakhs saplings by September 30, 2017 in and around CCL command zone. He also asked the officials to ensure protection of these saplings and motivate the local population through involvement and education regarding conservation of environment.
 
A herbal garden is being developed at CCL Headquarters and its command areas in the memory of former environmentalists and Union Minister late Anil Madhav. Medicinal plants have been planted by CMD CCL, Director (Finance), Director (Personnel), Director (Technical/ Operations), Director (P&P) at the newly developed “Herbal Garden” at Darbhanga House. Shri Saumitra Singh, HOD (Environment) and his team played active role in organizing the programme successfully.
