Two days Mega "Employment Fair" concludes at CCL
421 Candidates interviewed by 34 companies
Area- Headquarter, Posted on- 21-10-2016
A young country like India needs to skill its youth to harness the benefits of demographic dividends. In order to bridge this "Skill Gap", our Hon’ble PM has given the vision of "Skill India" Taking forward this vision under the directive of Ministry of Coal, Central Coalfields have launched several skill development programmes through various training institutions, especially to the youth from rural background, particularly from project affected people. The aim of these programs is to make these youths employable and self- reliant. ITI, Multi Skill Development Center (MSDC), Mining Sirdar Training, Mobile repairing etc are some of the vocational training that is being provided by Central Coalfields Limited (CCL). In fact, these initiatives had helped CCL to build a special bond with its stakeholders.
Taking the noble and visionary mission a step ahead, Central Coalfields under the dynamic leadership of CMD CCL, Sri Gopal Singh has been trying to secure employment for these skilled and educated youths of Jharkhand through "Employment Fair" i.e. Placement Drives. These placement drives provide unique platform to both, employer and prospective employees, saving in their precious money and time. These placement drive are common in the IT industry for fulfilling its need of engineers but it is the first time that any company is conducting placement drives for electrician, welders, fitters etc, that too not to fulfill its own requirement but for the benefit of the youths from the rural and interior parts of Jharkhand, who could have not thought of it even in their dream.
CCL had already organized two "Employment Fair" earlier in January and April this year, for the students of MSDC, in which 43 students were selected by different companies. Also all the students of first batch of ITI, Barkakana who were trained as electrician were secured job through campus placement.
Extending this noble initiative, CCL had organized two days “Employment Fair” for dependents/wards of CCL Employees/Ex Employees at its headquarter in Ranchi. In all, 514 students have registered for the two day employment fair, who were interviewed for different post such as electrician, welder, fitter and others. At the end of the two day Employment Fair 421 candidates were interviewed by 34 companies. The participating companies included some big names like L&T, HEC, Cummins, Tata Motors, Usha Martin, STI Marketing, Allsion etc. The results will be declared soon by respective companies post discussion with their higher management.
“This employment fair has acted as a bridge connecting the candidates and companies and is mutually beneficial to both” said one of the participating employers. The fair has been highly appreciated by both the candidates and the employer and they expressed their gratitude to CCL and CMD Shri Gopal Singh. They added that this effort form CCL is particularly helpful to the youth from rural areas.
