Role of Vigilance in increasing efficiency and effectiveness of organization


On 14th December 2012 one workshop on topic "Role of Vigilance in increasing efficiency and effectiveness of organization" was organized by the CCL Vigilance at HRD department, Darbhanga house, Ranchi in order to enhance the knowledge and functioning capabilities of executives of CCL. The above seminar was attended by around 80/85 executives of different disciplines, posted in HQ and different Areas/units of CCL.

Smt. Vismita Tej (IRS), CVO, CCL in her welcome address stressed on the importance of the Vigilance Department in ensuring transparency, accountability and efficiency in the organization. She deliberated on the various dimensions of vigilance like punitive, preventive and participative vigilance and how each one of them contributed to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the organization.

Shri Gopal Singh, CMD,CCL discussed at length about the genesis and progress of the company. A very detailed power point presentation on the various innovative steps taken by CCL to ensure transparency and efficiency in the organization was highlighted by him, laying special emphasis on the Kaya Kalp Yojna and other new CSR activities.

The Chief Guest and key note speaker of the occasion, Shri Anil Sinha, Additional Secretary, CVC while explaining the finer nuances of Vigilance administration, also stressed upon the necessity of maintaining transparency at each level of transaction. He observed that while approving/finalizing any tender/contract, it is incumbent upon the concerned authority to satisfy himself completely regarding the justification of the intended work in order to maintain transparency. Decision making should indeed be upfront. He stressed that CCL should focus on leveraging of technology and Research & Development work in the field of mining. He also urged the gathering to convert the challenge into an opportunity by inculcating a culture of ethics in the organization, stressing that honesty under compulsion was no honesty. In the vibrant interactive session Shri Sinha and CVO, CCL replied to the questions raised by the participants. At the end of the interactive session, Shri GC Agrawal, GM (Vigilance), CCL proposed the formal vote of thanks.
